Fire and Ice Watermelon Salsa

Get ready for the new block party hit! The blend of watermelon, green peppers, cliantro and jalepenos in this receipe gives it just the right blend of sweet and spicy. Plus, it is a perfect twist on a traditional summer treat that is also so good for you.
Angela Charlton, R.D.N., a Carilion Clinic registered dietitian and nutritionist, recommends watermelon as a good source of the phytonutrient lycopene, which is especially good for prostate health.
“Watermelon also contains some dietary fiber and is a good source of vitamins A and D,” she said.

3 cups chopped watermelon
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
2 tablespoons lime juice
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
1 tablespoon chopped green onions
1 tablespoon chopped jalapeno
- In a large bowl, combine the watermelon, green bell pepper, lime juice, cilantro, green onions, jalapeno and garlic salt.
- Mix well and serve.
