For many of us fitting in a workout can be tough while we juggle all of our day-to-day commitments. I often struggle with having enough energy to get up for an early morning workout or squeezing in one after work.
I have tried a few different protein bars and shakes hoping for a little extra boost, but is that what I need to fuel my workouts or is it simply unnecessary calories and sugar? Their colorful wrappers sure make them look healthy and good for you.
We checked in with Patrick Dunham, Carilion Wellness' clinical training manager, to find out what we really need to fuel our workouts. Plus, Patrick shared his favorite sources of protein and how to calculate exactly how much you need in your diet.
